Double chance explained
With double chance you cover two of the three outcomes: 1X (home or draw), X2 (draw or away) or 12 (no draw). Your chances go up and the price comes down.
The three options
| Bet | Wins if |
|---|---|
| 1X | home win or draw |
| X2 | draw or away win |
| 12 | either team wins |
Worked example
Everton v Aston Villa, 1X2 prices 3.30 / 3.50 / 2.15. Double chance X2: 1.36. With £30 on X2, a 1-1 or 0-2 returns £40.80. Only an Everton win loses the bet.
When to use it
- In accumulators, to shore up a shaky selection.
- On an in-form away underdog that rarely loses.
- 12 in knockout ties between two attacking sides.
When to avoid it
Below 1.20 the return is too small. Always backing 1X on big favourites gives lots of small wins that a single upset wipes out.

FAQ
What does X2 mean?
You win if the match ends in a draw or an away win.
Double chance or draw no bet?
With double chance a draw wins your bet; with draw no bet you only get your stake back, but the price is higher.
