Asian handicap explained
The Asian handicap gives one team a virtual head start or deficit and removes the draw. On whole lines a tie refunds your stake; on quarter lines your stake is split across two lines.
Line table (handicap on your team)
| Line | Win by 1 | Draw | Defeat |
|---|---|---|---|
| +0.5 | wins | wins | loses |
| 0 | wins | refund | loses |
| -0.25 | wins | half refund | loses |
| -0.5 | wins | loses | loses |
| -0.75 | half wins, half refund | loses | loses |
| -1 | refund | loses | loses |
Worked example: -0.75
£20 on Newcastle -0.75 at 1.95: £10 goes on -0.5 and £10 on -1.
- Newcastle win 2-0: both halves win, you get £39 back.
- Newcastle win 2-1: -0.5 wins (£19.50), -1 is refunded (£10): £29.50.
- 1-1: both halves lose.
Why experienced bettors like it
- Lower margin than 1X2, often 2–4%.
- Fine-tuned risk with quarter lines.
- No draw headache on whole lines.
The European handicap keeps three outcomes (including a «handicap draw») and never refunds.

It is draw no bet: if the match is drawn, you get your stake back.
